JOB DESCRIPTION:

As an Assistant Construction Manager/Estimator, you will be responsible for overall project planning, scheduling, project budgeting and control. Assistant CM responsibilities span a broad spectrum, covering all the areas of project management like - Project Planning, Time Management, Quality Management, Contract Administration and Safety Management. Estimator responsibilities to include but not limited to, developing accurate and reliable estimates for various projects. Responsible for projects from conceptual design to final approved construction documents. Will work with our team to provide detailed cost information that allows for our clients to make timely, well informed decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the construction project from start to finish
  • Must be able to assemble accurate, well organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner
  • Provide clear and detailed quantity take offs
  • Attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours
  • Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting and identification of resources needed
  • Create the teams, develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities
  • Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking team expenses, and minimizing exposure and risk in the project
  • Ensure that construction activities move according to predetermined schedule
  • Devise the project work plans and make revisions when need arises
  • Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
  • Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project which include the architects, consultants, and contractors
  • Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings
  • Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards
  • Periodic inspection of construction sites
  • Ensure project documents are complete
  • Must be able to resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims
  • Serve as a link with the clients and review the deliverable prepared by the team before passing on to the client
  • Demonstrate the ability to encourage professional development in team members
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a strong team player

Knowledge and skill required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards is essential
  • Project experience handling contracts between 2 and 10 million
  • Must have ability to estimate
  • Experience in conceptual estimating
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Microsoft Projects, Word
